Bearing Capacity

Pavement-Scanner (TSD)

The Pavement Scanner uses a Traffic Speed Deflectometer (TSD) to perform bearing capacity measurements on roads and to detect visually undetectable structural deficiencies. The measurement vehicle can be used in flowing traffic at speeds of up to 80 km/h and thus carry out the measurement without contact. The measurement data contributes to an optimization of the management system, so that the maintenance of roads can be made faster, more targeted, more effective and more efficient. The supplementary regulations can be found in AP Trag Part B 5.

Benkelman-Beam

The Benkelman-Beam can be used to measure deformations under a defined load. For measurements on asphalt roads, it can be used to infer the load-bearing capacity. The Benkelman-Beam essentially consists of a probe arm tip and a dial gauge connected to it.

Dynamic Plate Load Test with Light Drop-Weight Device

The dynamic plate load test with light drop-weight device is suitable for testing the load-bearing capacity and the achieved compaction of soils in the subsoil/subgrade in earthworks and traffic route construction. For the test, the drop weight is released three times from the release device so that it falls onto the subsoil/subgrade. The settlement s, the radius of the load plate r and the normal stress σ are used to calculate the deformation modulus Evd, which is a parameter for the deformability of the soil. The relevant regulations can be found in TP BF-StB Part B 8.3.

Static Plate Load Test

Static plate load tests in accordance with DIN 18134 are used to determine the EV1 and EV2 deformation moduli by loading and unloading the soil in stages at least twice. The results allow statements on various soil properties or the indirect determination of the Proctor density.
